Some nights
I lay awake
and my lips yearn
to drink deeply from yours.

Other nights

and my fingers long to trace
the freckles that dot your skin
like stars in the night sky.

But every night
I lay awake
and my heart aches
to hold you in my arms
and feel the thunder
of your heart
in the hopes
that I might finally rest.
