“I mean, get real.” he laughed, squinting up into the silver laden sky.
The rain started softly at first, no bigger than pinpricks of light alighting on his verdant umbrella. The pitter-patter of droplets against the asphalt grew louder, until he found himself in quite the downpour.
He breathed in vigorously; the strong earthen scent of loamy soil and asphalt filling his lungs.
“The fact of the matter is you could give some people a drop of water, just a drop, and they would still find it within themselves to appreciate you.”
He stood silently, his steely eyes studiously observing the rain as it plummeted onto the street before him.
“But there are some to whom you could give the entire ocean, as infinite as that may seem, and they would still take you for granted and act as if it were not enough.”
He turned for home, verdant umbrella in hand, and rain in his heart.

I mean this. This is just brilliant. I have no words to tell how much these lines affect me. Awesome.
