Plummet

I have heard it said
that those who fly alone
have the strongest wings,
but I disagree.
I have found
that those who fly
the farthest
the fastest
the fiercest
the highest
are often the ones
with someone to protect.
Are we defined
by how much power we have
or by what we choose
to defend with it?
