There was something
subtle
in the way
you said my name.
It started in the slight curl
of your lips
as you formed
the ‘H’,
the lovely sound
of your throat
expanding
through the ‘A’,
the delightful roll
of your tongue
over the ‘R’s,
and the drawn out
‘I’
to the satisfying hiss
of your soft breath
marking the ‘S’,
the gentle yawn
as your lips form
the ‘O’,
to the sweet hum
as you rested
on the ‘N’.
If there is one sound
I should want to hear
before I pass
from this life
to the next,
I would ask
to have you say my name
one
last
time.

This very sweet to read, especially the last part “I would ask to have you say my name one last time”. Also, when you wrote “the gentle yawn”, I ended up yawning – it is definitely contagious!

This is creative.
“… It started in the slight curl of your lips…” I like this, the way the thought of you begins with a potential smile on someone’s face.
